Bilingual School

Bilingual Spanish-English

We promote the learning of English at a bilingual level, with teachers specialised in teaching English to Spanish-speakers. The vast majority of our students leave school with a Cambridge-certified Advanced level (C1).

NURSERY

Children spend more than half a day in English with native or bilingual teachers. They learn to read and write with Jolly Phonics, a multi-sensory and fun reading and writing method that aims to internalise English as a mother tongue, acquiring a correct pronunciation.

PRIMARY

The aim of this stage is for students to be able to express themselves fluently and naturally in written and spoken English. To this end, we teach all subjects in English, except for Spanish, Mathematics and Religion. English is the language of instruction for all their learning and the main focus of their project work.

SEE METHODOLOGIES

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL

The aim of ESO is to consolidate the English they have learned naturally from a young age. To do this, we divide the students into small groups so that they can obtain their Cambridge certificate corresponding to their level. Edelweiss School is an “Addvantage” member and an examination centre of the British Council.

Personalised Education

Familiarity is the value that represents us the most. We want each student to feel at home and be able to grow carrying out their responsibilities with confidence and self-esteem.

EVERY CHILD MATTERS

All school staff adopt a warm and familiar attitude towards all pupils. The small groups allow for greater monitoring and knowledge of each individual.

CLOSE TO FAMILIES

Parents have permanent and direct contact with the school (at least one interview per term). Teachers are available to listen to each family, listening to their needs and doubts.

ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY

We are trained to help students with their special needs. In our Guidance Department we work closely with the family so that, with hard work, everyone achieves their learning goals.

Education in Values

To educate is also to care for the human and spiritual dimension of the person. We strive to develop our students into responsible citizens with integrity and commitment to society.

CATHOLIC VALUES

Training in Christian values forms part of our ideology, with the aim of educating free people who are committed to a better, fairer and more humane world.
Students who wish can receive their First Holy Communion and Confirmation in our Chapel.

EDUCATIONAL VALUES PROJECT

The “Educational Values Project” programme is carried out in tutoring sessions. Each month a value is worked on with specific tools to use in their daily lives. We also work on emotions, so that students are able to recognise, express and identify them in others.

SOLIDARIDAD

From an early age, children are involved in charitable causes. The seniors coordinate the projects themselves, such as the food collection campaign or the HAPP-RUN charity run.
In addition, our volunteers dedicate their free time to people in need at the Cottolengo or the redicence for the elderly.

OUR PROJECTS

Academic Excellence

We try to instill in our students an eagerness to excel and a willingness to learn and to contribute good things to society.

EXCELLENT RESULTS

Our students obtain very good results in the university entrance examinations. They and their teachers work hard to ensure that they can choose the university course that best suits their preferences. The small groups in Bachillerato help to bring out the best in each student and to be able to follow them closely.

CULTURE OF EFFORT

We value the work done with effort and enthusiasm. We encourage the habit of daily work from an early age, as it is very beneficial for their personal and professional future. We try to teach them how to organise their time and study with homework planning and daily diary tracking.

OUR METHODOLOGIES

CRITICAL THINKING

We apply tools in the classroom that are specifically designed to speed up thinking. Routines and skills to help children analyse and compare information, contribute ideas or form their own opinions.
In addition, our debate club encourages critical thinking on current issues.

Learning-centred Methodologies

Our teachers receive continuous training to combine their years of experience in the classroom with methodologies focused on the student and their learning.

PROJECT-BASED WORK

Every term, pupils participate in an interdisciplinary project in which different subjects are integrated. This allows them to relate content and find practical application of what they have learned.

OUR PROJECTS

COOPERATIVE LEARNING

Teamwork is one of the most demanded competences professionally and also one of the most practised in the classroom. With different structures and roles, we guide students to take individual responsibility and contribute to the group.

READING PLAN

Each classroom has its own library and students borrow books on a regular basis. In addition, they all have common readings that they share and read in the classroom. The aim of the reading plan is for them to enjoy reading and incorporate it into their hobbies.

ORAL AND WRITTEN EXPRESSION

In an increasingly digital and mechanised world, expressing oneself correctly, both orally and in writing, is a very necessary skill. This is why it is worked on and practised in the classroom every day, using specific methodologies such as “Talk for Writing”.

Promotion of Sports

Our facilities encourage children to spend much of their time outdoors on the move. Sport promotes a healthy lifestyle and also helps to face challenges by cooperating as a team.

FEDERATED TEAMS

Our teams represent us in the football and basketball leagues. We promote a healthy competitive environment in which teams achieve good results.

OLYMPIC GAMES

The school Olympics are held every year. Each student belongs to a team with classmates from other classes. Teams compete in multiple sports and have a great time.

OTHER SPORTS

The school offers extracurricular activities such as judo, ballet and tennis.
In the Physical Education classes they play other sports such as hockey, baseball or swimming in summer

ELITE SPORT

We like to help our students to combine their academic life with their sporting career, facilitating their compatibility.
