Los alumnos del Cluster de periodismo, dirigidos por Miss Anna, tuvieron el privilegio de recibir a María Consuelo Reyna, figura clave del periodismo valenciano. Durante más de una hora, la periodista contestó a las preguntas de sus pequeños entrevistadores, dejando impresionados tanto a niños como a adultos. Durante su extensa carrera, María Consuelo conoció a importantes personalidades y tuvo que lidiar con situaciones complicadas. Todo esto lo explicó de forma muy amena y didáctica a los niños. Ellos, por su parte, redactaron una serie de artículos plasmando sus impresiones. Os los compartimos aquí:

“GOOD NEWS,NO NEWS”
Mª Consuelo Reyna, the greatest journalist Valencia has ever had, agreed to do an interview with us! María Consuelo wanted to be a doctor but after she saw the work that doctors had to do, she decided she wanted to be a journalist. She started university when she was only 17 years old. After that, she was soon made director of Las Provincias. She said, “Good news, no news,” when we asked her why good news isn’t considered as interesting as bad news. She also explained to us that today’s news often uses a very poor language and they laugh in people’s faces.
FROM WORDS TO LIFE: THE ARTICLE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Lastly, she told us her best experience was when some parents asked her to write an article for people to donate blood to their son who had leukemia. Eventually, they found someone with the same blood type. Ten years later the boy died, but his parents came to María Consuelo to thank her because she had helped their little boy live ten years more. Maria Consuelo Reyna visits Edelweiss School

Last Monday, June 2nd, María Consuelo Reyna, an experienced journalist, visited our school to give us valuable advice and share her experiences with us to help with our magazine. First, she told us fascinating stories and anecdotes from her long career. Then, around 15 of us had the chance to ask her questions, and she answered most of them with great honesty and detail. She has 40 years of experience and has met many important people. She studied journalism for three years and then dedicated herself fully to the profession, without specializing in any specific field. She worked as a journalist for Las Provincias newspaper between 1972 and 1999, serving as its director during her last years at the newspaper.
Given her experience and the time in which she worked, we were amazed to hear that she had met such important figures as Nino Bravo and the former King and Queen of Spain. What impressed us most about the visit was being able to apply the advice she gave us and put it into practice in her interview and in this article. It has been a very informative experience. For us, it was unforgettable to meet someone of such importance—someone who could teach us so much through her knowledge. It was truly impressive! We will always remember her words: “No news is good news.”

Hello, dear readers,I wanted to tell you that a few days ago, a very famous and important journalist gave a talk to us, and that journalist was Maria Consuelo Reyna. Maria Consuelo Reyna is a great journalist who has always been very proud of her work. Since she was a little girl, at the age of seven, she decided that she wanted to be a journalist. And that’s where it all started.
Maria has always wanted to use her articles for good. One of the things she is very proud of, apart from her work, is that she saved a beautiful natural area thanks to an article she published.
Did you know that María Consuelo Reyna worked at Las Provincias?
Yes, María worked there from 1978 to 1999. As I mentioned before, she loves her job and thinks it is very important. She spent 12 hours working, and she loved it.
We were talking about newspapers nowadays, and Maria said that she thinks it is disrespectful the way they are written today — that they should use more appropriate vocabulary.
I personally liked the talk very much. We were discussing a subject that I love (journalism) and talking with a person who was willing to help us and who answered all our questions.
For me, it was a wonderful experience, and I hope that she enjoyed it too.
